Funny part, if you leave it at the original firmware R22. the /img/snapshot.cgi returns the resolution your camera is showing, when you update to R24, you indeed need to give a bogus parameter. (Bug?!?)

Just like your cam connects to an NTP server for the time, if you set adjust for daylight savings on, it indeed takes the correct time, if you reboot your camera, the time is fetched without requesting for daylight saving changes.

Your OpenVPN server runs on Vista 64? I use/test Linux, Mac and Windows on the client side but all my OpenVPN servers run on Linux. I believe the routes should work the same on Windows but my experience with Windows OpenVPN servers is limited so I can't say for sure.

I will test this out when I can but in the meantime I would check the routing table (route print) to make sure your routes get created properly in both cases, check your iroutes in the client config(s), and if everything else looks OK, perhaps use a traffic sniffer on the tunnel interface to see if the traffic leaves the server via the tunnel.

I've updated my original post to make it clear I've tested this only with the OpenVPN server on Linux and I've included my full config.

I'd be most grateful for some more info about your configuration. I've tried using the vpn gateway in the route command but I can only get access to the client subnet from the server if I use the client ip.
I'm using Vista 64 with dev tun and topology subnet and I've just tried the latest openvpn - 2.1 rc19 with same results.
Thanks in advance,
Actually I used a static IP from the start as the camera is on a separate subnet without DHCP. Even so it would only work wirelessly for a day or two before dropping off the network. I got sick of resetting it and ran a wire and it's worked fine since. I just won't buy Linksys/low-end Cisco crap anymore.

Thanks for the URLs! That post saved me a boad load of time. To return the favor - set the IP address of the camera statically. I was having the same issue until I did that. It seems that the camera is too stupid to renew the expiring DHCP lease.

    Hi,
So i figured out a way to do a reset on this switch. Most of the dell switches are SMC rebrands. I have a few of both. They have never done bad by me. I just got a few of these switches that were broken... They have flacky power supplies because of bad caps.
Anyway, Try this to reset the switch.
Unplug all network cables.
Plug a normal network cable from port 1 to port 2 on the switch.
Boot the switch up as you normally would and leave it running for about 2 minutes.
Shut down the switch, unplug the cables and bring it back up again.
With luck.. You should now have reset the firmware back to defaults.
Agreed, OpenVPN is hawt... but the logged messages are really silly - like how it'll negotiate a channel, but can't pass data because it's using the wrong cipher at one end... why can't this be passed between the endpoints in the metadata? You can pass IPs, Routes and all that jazz - but not WHICH ciper is in use???

pfSense is good stuff, I know CMB & Scott... they're dedicated to making it awesomesauce... It'll do what you want, and is worth the investigation if you don't have to get more stupid PIXes.

The remote networks for these particular VPN's require we do NAT over the tunnel, which m0n0wall doesn't currently support, so we went with the Cisco. The m0n0wall will remain the primary router though, for sure. It routes traffic over to the ASA only when necessary.

I tend to go into convulsions when I have to do too much with Sonicwalls. Whenever I come across one I try to get it replaced with a m0n0wall.

I only just downloaded pfSense the other day in order to play around and try it out, but I've stuck with m0n0wall thus far because it's nice and lean and we've had great success with it.

I adore OpenVPN though. I use it extensively for site-to-site and client-server VPN's and it has never let me down.

... Why'd you suggest the Cisco gear if you're already comfortable with m0n0wall/pfSense?

I just went thru a pretty painful migration where one of my clients was acquired by a bunch of SonicWall-using-dolts. Combine a horrible, slow UI with a moron who doesn't understand the difference between firewall, routing and NAT rules... oh - and reminds you frequently he's a CCNA but really doesn't understand this VLAN stuff...

Compare to the pfSense machine I setup for them a year ago, never had to touch since... they had this IPSec and OpenVPN tunnels running, well secured, ~1 year uptime too even!

Megacorp, who have IT policy stating they use SonicWalls for whatever reason, don't pay for support after 5PM...

... Because we all do major network migrations during business hours... don't you?
