Miracle or miracles, I'm nearly done with my christmas shopping. I never thought that would feel so good. I'm so used to doing it in the last few days before christmas. I was out tonight and the traffic wasn't even bad and I was thinking "what's going on here; this is weird"?

We got a christmas tree finally. We sort of put that one off a bit this year. The funny thing is we got a pretty decent looking tree and it cost us all of $7. Next year we'll end up dropping a bunch of $ to get a nice fake one.

I pay my sbc fucking phone bill every month by phone. Ironic, no? Well they always have some annoying 5min message at the beginning of the call about "visit our website, blah blah blah; pay your bill at our website, blah blah blah" so I though, ok, fine, today maybe I will give that I try and maybe save some time paying my fucking bill.

WRONG!

I go to their fucking website and login.

I go to the fucking "Pay your bill" page and submit my credit card info, zip code, favorite breakfast food, etc, and click PAY.

And it gives me a completely blank page except for the words:
"Error 500: BeanUtils.populate".
WHAT THE FFFUUUCCCKKK am I supposed to do with THAT.

So I'll just contact them, I think, and tell them what I think of their website and the fucking phone message that tells me I should use the piece of shit. I click on the "Contact Us" link. I fill in my area code, and then I am brought to a page that says:

"The page you are looking for has moved, been replaced, or is currently unavailable to view."

OOOOOOOOOOOk.... so I click the "or follow this link to our home page." link. Where does that take me?

Yup, back to the same page. "The page you are looking for has moved...."

WTF. Seriously, WTF. This whole internet thing is not new. It is not this hard. You people are fucking pathetic. Take the goddamn message off your phone that is bugging me about using your fucking website when it doesn't even fucking work.

For those of you with email accounts on the server, I'm sure you are tired of spam and cheese sandwiches*. I know I am. My (unflagged) spam count has recently gone through the roof.

Hang in there, because I'm working on an alternative filter system that should actually decrease the burden on the server for filtering, while improving accuracy of filtering, and greatly improving ease of use (ease of submitting spam/ham to the filter system, and easy of quaranteening junk mail to keep your inbox manageable).

Although I wanted to implement this in another phase, I think I am going to switch to ldap based account management at the same time. The new filter obsoletes my current user management system, so this kind of got pushed up.

I am testing both upgrades on my development server now, and I hope to be able to implement the filters + ldap directory on the production server by the end of the year. I'll keep you up to date!

*spam and cheese sandwich: in this case this refers to junk emails layered on top of stinky virus mails or other stinky undesireable messages; all surrounded by the bread, or layers of legitimate and desired email. Most people find it quite annoying when they have to manually pick the spam and cheese out of their inboxes.

STUFF-TO-DO -- I have a lot of it. This is the season for STD. This is actually my favorite time of the year; the giving and receiving of stuff. But I need to finish my shopping, and I need to make some cookies. And that accounts for maybe two of twenty things on my STD list. Which means this month is going to see few blog entries here!
