Helped a lot of people with stuff. Helped Christie's dad run some cat5. Helped Anthony with his computer. Gave emotional support to Neal as he borked Brendan's motherboard (j/k!) and spent the entire day today helping my dad and his friends take down and haul away 5 very large trees. (my parents' yard looks naked)

random thought of the weekend: I need to do something about the water tube that hangs just behind my desk and which is prevented from gushing water all over the place by only some zip ties and a binder clip. Water+computers = badbadbad. This problem needs to be addressed.

This isn't about sex in the park. No, I'm talking about the Palm Tungsten E2 I recently purchased.

I had been using the Palm Vx I bought off ebay a few months ago, and becoming increasingly frustrated with it's severe digitizer problems. It would gradually register my pen strokes further and further from where they really were, until it would no longer register any pen stroke at all without a reset. Grrrr.

When and where is it?

I seriously need to cut myself off. I just can't help it though. Every time I visit netflix.com I find five more movies that I absolutely must see.

The confession: my NF queue recently surpassed 350 movies.

The problem now is that I've queued up so many that it may take me years to watch them all... and that's assuming I don't add any more. It's just that I've been sooo movie starved the last few years and now I keep running across movies that I've been wanting to see for a long time.

Anyway the first step is going to be upgrading our NF membership plan. We're switching to the 3-out plan at the end of the month. The 8-out plan could certainly put a dent in that queue... but it's a little too pricy. In the meantime I'll see if I can find a local chapter of Netflixaholics Anonymous.

It seems possibly related to recent events, but we sure are getting around a lot lately. Last night we took a trip to South America. I could have strangled the pilot. We flew in a smallish jet down to Brazil or Peru or something; I'm not sure. Anyway, the pilot insisted on flying over roads the whole way down -- maybe he was afraid he would get lost? The scariest part was that we were only flying about 8-10m above the roads, and it was very foggy outside.

I was glad to get off that plane when we arrived but our accomodations weren't exactly five-star. We ended up spending the night in sleeping bags on the floor of a school gym. Don't ask me why. And this morning I woke up with a stiff back. Go figure.

I've earned a promotion of sorts. It's actually more along the lines of a plan-to-leave-your-job-but-then-your-employer-offers-you-more-in-order-to-stay kind of move. Anyway it makes me feel a lot better about my job since I'll at last be paid a competitive wage. And it's certainly nice to know that I can quit interviewing now, because I'm sick of kissing ass. Probably the most exciting part of all is that I now have a salary and some paid vacation, for the first time ever.
