New Athlon64 machine

Not mine, but I spec'ed it and ordered the components which just arrived today. This one is for my mother-in-law, so price was the priority, over performance, but I expect it will perform pretty well all the same.

Gigabyte GA-K8NS-939 Nforce 3 Ultra mb.
Athlon64 3000 - 1.8GHz - socket 939 - 90nm
512MB Crucial PC3200 RAM (2x256)
ASUS GeForce MX4000 AGP vid card
Hitachi 80GB SATA 8MB buffer drive
Antec SLK1650 case (with 350W smartpower ps)

It just makes me wish I had mine already.... grrrr.

A song

I would like to share a song with you. It's set to the tune of "Head, shoulders, knees and toes".

Head, noodles, cheese and tails
cheese and tails

Head, noodles, cheese and tails
cheese and tails

And pies and cakes and snout and scales

Head, noodles, cheese and tails
cheese and tails!

From the I-will-soon-suck-less-than-you dept...

...or at least my new computer will suck less than yours...

Coming in February 2005:

-Antec PLUS1080AMG Metallic Gray SOHO file server case
-ASUS A8N-E Premium Nforce4 Ultra x16 pcie and three x1 pcie slots. (actually still undecided on mb)
-AMD Athlon64 3500+ - 939 socket - 90nm/Winchester core.
-1GB Crucial DDR400/PC3200 ram
-PNY GeForce 6600GT 128MB dual DVI video card

Planned for December 2005:
-U320 scsi card - pcie (AFAIK such a beast does not yet exist...minor point)
-80GB U320 10K rpm scsi drive

From Feb-December I'll have to make due with my 60GB ATA133 IDE drive :/

-----
EDIT:
sCRAP the U320 scsi plan. SCSI is out. SAS (Serial Attached SCSI) is in. This is cool stuff-- the controllers will be cross compatible with SAS and SATA drives.
See Adaptec's website for more on SAS.

Revised plan for December 2005:
-PCI Express SAS/SATA controller
-80GB 15K rpm SAS drive (but possibly 10Krpm due to noise concerns...)

You all suck

Greetings vistors. You suck. No one left a single comment in 2004. (I'm still in denial about the all too obvious fact that no one comes here anyway, so don't ruin it for me, k?) What's up with that?

Anyway, that's in the past so lets put us behind that... errr, other way around/you know what I mean. The point is, I have great expectations for what 2005 holds for me and my ultra-blog. I think by mid March my unique page views per day should be at the level where Amazon and Ebay will be calling me up to discuss the posibility of some banner ads on my site. But never fear, I will not sell out. Not again. You see, in 1999, near the dawn of the dot-com era, I sold outright my first web domain to a start-up satellite internet provider (I might mention they later sold or relenquished the domain to another company who had already registered a trademark, and although they go by a different name now, they still haven't got their satellites or their business off the ground, last I heard ;-) ) but I digress... What I really want to say is: Happy New Year, keep trying to think of a comment to post, and in the meantime, I'll be holding my breath.

Peace.
