New Athlon64 machine

Not mine, but I spec'ed it and ordered the components which just arrived today. This one is for my mother-in-law, so price was the priority, over performance, but I expect it will perform pretty well all the same.

Gigabyte GA-K8NS-939 Nforce 3 Ultra mb.
Athlon64 3000 - 1.8GHz - socket 939 - 90nm
512MB Crucial PC3200 RAM (2x256)
ASUS GeForce MX4000 AGP vid card
Hitachi 80GB SATA 8MB buffer drive
Antec SLK1650 case (with 350W smartpower ps)

It just makes me wish I had mine already.... grrrr.

Just don't EVER go with a Geforce5...they are crap........

Well at $33, even the MX4000 was overkill. The only games this computer will be running are Mahjong and crossword puzzles.
