trying to break free

I got a new phone for work. Sprint sucked, sucks and will continue to suck for the foreseeable future. So does verizon for that matter, but my former work phone was from sprint.

After 5 years of CDMA phones, this is actually my first GSM phone. Very exciting. I like to take the SIM card out and marvel at the idea I can use it to make my number work in another phone without kissing some phone store employee's ass. The phone gets me 2-4 bars of signal strength in the basement where my old phone would get 0-2.

The phone is actually not very interesting. It is a Motorola v190 (Mine is actually all silver; no black). Kind of generic, but I figure I can upgrade later (to an unlocked RAZR probably) as this is still a bit of a trial to see how well the service will do around town and especially at my house.

The plan, through Cincinnati Bell, is pretty cool. I get truly unlimited calling, anytime, to any number [to/from the US] from anywhere around town. If I'm out of the area, I have 500 peak minutes to use. It will be amusing to see how many minutes I burn through without having any limits ;-)

Now I just have to end my frustrating relationship with verizon (1 more year on the contract) and I'll be in cell phone heaven!
