Christmas Aftermath

After celebrating "Christmas: Part III, the Quest for more Presents" this evening at our house, I am now taking stock of the damage. We have enough leftover food (especially desserts) to feed an African Village for several months. We gained some very nice presents, one of which we "used" this evening: LOTR ROTK PSSEE. The house is actually only marginally unkempt which should make recovery pretty easy.

The best part is now I'm free to begin spec'ing my biggest, and yet unrealized christmas gift: my first major computer upgrade in several years! I don't know the full details yet, but it will definately be Athlon64 powered. I'm favoring the ASUS A8N-SLI Deluxe mb at the moment and probably looking at an Athlon64 3200 or 3500. I'm keen on acquiring one of the Winchester core versions of these chips, as they are made on the new 90nm process and AFAIK run just as fast as their 130nm counterparts while generating less heat and consuming less power. Also to be included is a minimum of 1GB of ram, although I'm shooting for 2GB.

EDIT: Do to the fact that I will be needed a new video card (PCI-express) and a new case (or at least a new ps), it looks like I will go with 512MB ram for now, and holding out for a future 2GB upgrade.
